Three Democrats in Congress wrote Monday to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice requesting the Department issue its semi-annual report, as required by the Iran-Syria Nonproliferation Act.
The signatories, Reps. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) and Edward Markey (D-MA), say the report is more than one month overdue. It's unknown why the report has yet to be released; the State Department could not be immediately reached for comment.
The Democratic congressmembers indicated they want to review the report prior to considering legislation which would "facilitate President Bush's proposal for nuclear cooperation with India."
