The definition of Seditious Conspiracy according to US Code: 18 U.S.C. § 2384.
All Americans should know what has occurred. This political group has been conspiring the government shutdown for some time, and it has cost taxpayers billions. Yet the same party has continuously voted against helping the poor, and those most in need. There should be consequences for them - as there would be for any of us committing such a crime. They are not above the law.
18 U.S.C. § 2384 : US Code - Section 2384: Seditious conspiracy
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
Boehner, Cruz, Bachmann, the whole lot who deliberately shut down our government broke a long standing set of federal laws and must be tried in Federal court.
You cannot do things like this and get a free pass:
You cannot shut down our Gov't by choice without taking actions that are not in the best interests of the republic and at the same time treading waters dangerously close to Treason.
We all know what the penalty for treason is.
If President Obama's Justice Department is "righteous" and "above the board" in law enforcement, the suspects in this serious crime must be tried and face the maximum penalty of 20 years each in federal prison.
I'm not saying there should be "show trials" but due process/ laws must be enforced even at the highest reaches of our government.
Legislators don't get a ignore the law and be as criminal and deviant as you choose card as a benefit.
They are tasked and obligated to follow the same laws and rules as the rest of us.
Allowing these obvious crimes to go ignored or to happen once again sets in a motion a set of ideals that the wealthy, influential and legislatures in this country have one set of rules, while the rest of society plays by a different, stricter, unbalanced unfair set.
