Now that Rummy's decided to step down, who's going to take his place? There had been rumors that Lieberman was on a short list of people, but it appears that Bush is going to nominate former CIA director Robert Gates to replace him.
Honestly, who would want to replace Rumsfeld? My husband and I called this months ago when there were the first talks of Rummy stepping down; we mused over the idea of Rummy taking the fall for Bush, and now, that's exactly what it looks like is happening here. We have members of the Pentagon and military brass going on CNN right now, talking about how the Iraq mess is solely Rumsfeld's fault. Well, thank you for effectively playing the scapegoat for your masters, Donald. Once again, Bush gets a "get out of jail free" card while another "family friend" gets sent up the river. Wonderful.
