Sheldon Whitehouse ousts Chafee from Senate seat in Rhode Island
Politics - Chafee ousted from Senate seat in Rhode Island - sacbee.com:
"Lincoln Chafee, one of the few remaining moderate voices among Senate Republicans, surrendered the seat he and his father had held for 30 years, losing Tuesday to Sheldon Whitehouse, who lashed Chafee to President Bush's unpopular policies.
Whitehouse has spent most of his life in public service. Son of a diplomat, and a former state attorney general and U.S. attorney, Whitehouse failed in his bid to become governor in 2002, losing to a fellow Democrat in the primary."
