ABC News: Ortega Leading in Nicaragua Polls:
"Left-wing Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega, whose socialist government fought a war against U.S.-backed guerrillas in the 1980s, is leading the presidential race less than two weeks before the Nov. 5 election, according to two polls published Friday.
Ortega is on the brink of having the needed support to avoid a runoff election between the top two vote winners. If he doesn't win in the first round, Ortega is expected to have a tough fight in a second-round vote, in which supporters of his rivals could unite against him.
A poll by M&R Consultores showed Ortega with 33 percent support, followed by Harvard-educated banker Eduardo Montealegre with 25.4 percent. The poll interviewed 4,501 potential voters Oct. 19-22, and had a margin of error of 1.5 percentage points."
