Amid unrelenting violence in Iraq, President George W. Bush's spokesman said on Wednesday the top goal of U.S. troops is to train Iraqi forces, and not trying to "subdue every bad guy in the country."
"As a matter of fact, the central mission to the United States is to train Iraqi forces so they can do the job. They get better intelligence. They know the people who are there. It is their country. And it's their obligation and responsibility," spokesman Tony Snow said on MSNBC.
You know, this is where we should have never stuck our nose in some other country's business. These security groups have been in training for the past couple of years, but they still aren't ready? Then did it really make sense for us to shake the country off its foundation and then after failed attempts to stabilize everything, say it's their obligation and responsibility to protect themselves?
Is it just me? Because I don't remember the part where the people of Iraq were asking us to become their saviors. We just handed that job title to ourselves.
God, what a mess.
