Deaths of 3 D.C. Teens In 24 Hours Shock City;
First there was a 14-year-old shot in the back in a public housing complex. About 13 hours later, police found a lifeless 15-year-old at a construction site. And seven hours after that, a 16-year-old died after he was shot in the head. DC at its finest?
Teens' T-Shirts Make Educators Squirm; aren't there more important things to worry about? Like educating the kids, for example?
Detainee Bill in Final Stages; White House Appears to Be Winning Wide Legal Latitude. Wow, here comes the war crimes charges! Next up: the wrath of the entire world!
No Compromise On Wiretap Bill; looks like one of George's ideas may still be killed by the end of the week. OK, I get it now -- treating detainees, who may or may not be terrorists, like shit and giving them no rights is fine, as long as you don't violate our privacy??
House Passes Measure on Religion Suits;
The House passed a bill yesterday that would bar judges from awarding legal fees to the American Civil Liberties Union and similar groups that sue municipalities for violating the Constitution's ban on government establishment of religion.
Spellings Calls for Tracking Of Students' Performance; while that may sound like a great idea, would this program account for slower learners, learning disabilities, and mental problems in kids...because all of these things can make even a smart child look a little less-than-perfect to college admissions. I also find it convenient that Spellings sidestepped a question about the need for more financial aid for students. Typical.

The case addresses the agency fees that some states require workers to pay to labor organizations for representation, even if they chose not to join the unions. The court said it would review a Washington state Supreme Court ruling that struck down a state law barring the use of those fees for political purposes without workers' consent.
