If Syria Can "Stop Hezbollah," Then Why Isn't George Calling?

Bush Administration virtually ignores Syria's ambassador to the United States during Mideast crisis

Well, how cute. Bush and Condi have been going on and on about how Syria can help reign in Hezbollah, but oddly enough, neither has put in a call to Syria's ambassador to the US, Imad Moustapha.

As usual, they're talking out of both sides of their face there in Washington. They want you to think that they're doing all they can to stop the violence, but they really aren't.

The Bush administration may explicitly state that Syria can rein in Hezbollah, whose fighters in Lebanon captured two Israeli soldiers and ignited the rocket and artillery exchanges that now threaten a wider conflict.

But the White House has made no calls to reopen a dialogue with Syria on resolving the crisis, Moustapha said, nor has the State Department. With no movement toward a significant dialogue with the government, Moustapha engages in public diplomacy to take his nation's case to America.
