Six years after Democrats backed him for vice president, Lieberman was trailing with 44 percent, or 25,596 votes, to political novice Ned Lamont's 56 percent, or 32,840 votes, with 19 percent of precincts reporting.
In Georgia, Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the fiery congresswoman who scuffled with a U.S. Capitol police officer earlier this year, was trailing in very early returns in a runoff for the Democratic nomination.
The latest results:
*with 44.39% of precincts reporting...Lieberman -- 46.91%, Lamont -- 53.09%
*with 13% of precincts reporting...McKinney -- 26.2%, Johnson -- 73.8%
