Phony flier says Virginians vote on different days

A phony State Board of Elections flier advising Republicans to vote on Nov. 4 and Democrats on Nov. 5 is being circulated in several Hampton Roads localities, according to state elections officials.

In fact, Election Day, for voters of all political stripes, remains Nov. 4.

The somewhat official-looking flier - it features the state board logo and the state seal - is dated Oct. 24 and indicates that "an emergency session of the General Assembly has adopted the follwing (sic) emergency regulations to ease the load on local electorial (sic) precincts and ensure a fair electorial process."

More on this story here....

Looks like a page from the Karl Rove playbook if you ask me.
Republicans hard at work again.
It must be horrific for them to believe over 75% of the eligible voters are coming out to vote this election cycle.
They know they can't win on the issues alone so denying/corrupting the voting process is the only card they have to play.
What's really sad is the dishonorable depths the GOP has fallen to.

McCain Aide Acknowledges Voter Suppression Strategy!

McCain and the Republican National Committee are conspiring secretly with outside groups to steal the presidential election!

Six days ago, I wrote about how a solid contact inside the McCain campaign explained to me what’s left for McCain (in the remaining days of the election battle after his terrible performance in the third debate).

"Voter suppression and wonky Diebold machines," my contact said then, adding "It’s our last hope." He stuns me into a long silence. Breaking the awkward pause, he quickly added, "I’m just kidding."

It turns out that, even though he did not know it at the time, my source was serious.

"There have been meetings and conference calls between people here (at McCain’s campaign headquarters), people at the RNC and groups out in Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, and maybe a few other states creating a strategy to harass voters and challenge ballots," he tells me this morning in a call he makes to me on his cell phone from the safety of his car."

"This isn’t what I signed up for and I don’t want to be a part of it. I may resign in the next day or two because I want McCain to win but I don’t want to go to jail for helping."

I sit in my office, dumbfounded. Here is a relatively important person inside a presidential campaign acknowledging that McCain and the Republican National Committee are conspiring secretly with outside groups to sabotage the presidential election.

This comes straight from the McCain campaign, itself. If you can't fairly win a campaign, just steal it.

This really gets my blood pressure boiling, and I honestly hope some shady stuff doesn't go down again this year. I swear, if they steal another election I'm moving to Japan. I cannot go through another 4 years knowing another illegitimate president is in the White House.

Potential 'Partisan Manipulation' in Voter Purges

The secret and inconsistent manner in which purges are conducted make it difficult, if not impossible, to know exactly how many voters are stricken from voting lists erroneously. And when purges are made public, they often reveal serious problems. Here are a few examples from this year:

* In Mississippi earlier this year, a local election official discovered that another official had wrongly purged 10,000 voters from her home computer just a week before the presidential primary.

* In Muscogee, Georgia this year, a county official purged 700 people from the voter lists, supposedly because they were ineligible to vote due to criminal convictions. The list included people who had never even received a parking ticket.

* In Louisiana, including areas hit hard by hurricanes, officials purged approximately 21,000 voters, ostensibly for registering to vote in another state. The purge did not follow existing legal protections that require officials to notify affected voters and give them the opportunity to contest or correct the records. A voter can avoid removal if she provides proof that the registration was cancelled in the other state, documentation not available to voters who never actually registered anywhere else.
