Last year, the poverty rate in the U.S. hit an 11-year high with the Census Bureau reporting that 13.2 percent of the population in 2008 lived in poverty, the highest level since 1997, and up from 12.5 percent in 2007.

More Americans Living in Poverty
Last year, the poverty rate in the U.S. hit an 11-year high with the Census Bureau reporting that 13.2 percent of the population in 2008 lived in poverty, the highest level since 1997, and up from 12.5 percent in 2007.
