Target Threatens To Close Chicago Area Stores Due To Minimum Wage Raise Ordinance
I think this is a step in the right direction even though it's not the best decision right now.
This ordinance, basically on one hand would force the Wal-Mart's and Target's of the retail world to pay a living wage.
On the other hand, it could destroy much needed development as these companies would build other places to avoid having to pay the higher wages and take advantage of lower salaries and benefits.
This story will be interesting to watch and see what happens from city council meeting that is coming soon.
This one meeting could set the trend for communities trying to fight Wal-Mart and other big-box retailers nationwide.
