Latest News About Israel

Olmert: offensive to continue until soldiers freed

Self-explanatory. As if PM Olmert will stop any time soon.

Israel denies aircraft lost near Beirut

Apparently, Lebanese TV showed what was assumed to be an F-16 fighter falling from the sky in flames. Someone claimed it was Israeli, but Israel denies that one of their jets were shot down. Anyway, the object is back to being unknown, for now.

AP News Alert!

The Israeli military says an airstrike in Lebanon has destroyed a long-range Iranian missile capable of reaching Tel Aviv.

Here we go again. I can almost hear Olmert happily chanting, "Yes, Bush, invade Iran! WWIII, here we come, baby!"

Israel Considers Conditional Cease Fire

Now which one is it? Either Olmert was right when he said they weren't going anywhere without the captured soldiers, or they're considering a cease fire...this is damn confusing.

This happened earlier:

The idea of an international peacekeeping force, put forth by U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, was rejected by Israel as premature. Those reservations were echoed by the Bush administration.

And as usual, George still stands behind Israel (wow, talk about hurting Tony Blair's feelings). I'm guessing he doesn't give a shit if Olmert leads us to our doom.

Now surprisingly, there was a headline up on The Raw Story: "US deploys ships for Lebanon evacuation". The link still leads to Reuters, but now the story is missing from the page....
