I remember all the news reports coming out that said Iran is at least 10 years from a "true" nuclear device.
Now we have Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert going on CNN's "Late Edition," telling the whole world that Iran is months from "acquiring the technological know-how" that will allow it to build an atomic bomb.
Now which story is it? Years away or a midsummer surprise?
It's really obvious Israel stands nothing to gain from the U.S. illegally attacking another Arab country, right? [sarcasm]
Iran is just a few months away from acquiring the technological know-how that will allow it to build an atomic bomb, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in an interview broadcast Sunday.
Olmert flew to Washington on Sunday for his first meeting as prime minister with President Bush. The two leaders are expected to discuss Iran's nuclear ambitions. Olmert told CNN's "Late Edition" that the key issue regarding Iran was not when it builds a nuclear bomb, but rather when it acquires the knowledge they need to manufacture such arms.
"This technological threshold is nearer than we anticipated before. This is because they are already engaged very seriously in enrichment," Olmert said.
"The technological threshold is very close. It can be measured in months rather than years," Olmert added, repeating statements previously made by other senior Israeli officials.
When exactly is the U.S. going to quit being Israel's bitch and let Israel fight its own anti-Muslim wars? War with Iran will ignite a terrorist uprising this country hasn't seen since the early '80s. Not to mention seeing 10 dollars a gallon gas prices at the pump.
I'm a firm believer that the stock market is extremely fickle right now, oil traders are on the "fear-based edge", the housing market is imploding, and war with Iran will bring about certain recession and inflation that will destroy this country's (US) economy.
No amount of tax cuts could stop the economy-based "nuclear bomb" that will destroy this country if we go to war with Iran.
And let's not forget the Treasury. We are stretched thin thanks to poor budgeting in Congress and a "spend it all, give it all away" (tax breaks) idealology in Congress. A war with Iran would further damage things like national defense, spending on social programs, and infrastructure upkeep (roads, highways, ect.).
There is also the issue of national identity. People hate Americans now more than ever. They think all Americans are like Bush--and newsflash, international blog visitors, we aren't. Many Americans, including myself, despise this president and everything that spews out of his corrupt, greedy mouth. I, and millions of others like me, voted for the smart one, Senator John Jerry, in the last presidential election, and before that, the guy who really won the presidency in 2000, former VP Al Gore.
I have listed several valid reasons why fighting Israel's holy war against the Islamic nation is a very bad deal in the end for us.
Sorry, GOP faithful. I am one of the few, proud voters who think for themselves and constantly ask why?
So with that in mind, Israel, I ask why do we want to fight Iran for you when we as a nation stand to gain nothing and can very easily loose it all?
