Lawmakers Are Being Told To Brace For A Haditha Fallout.

Source: CNN

Some members of Congress have been told to brace for the fallout from potential charges of murder and cover-up stemming from an inquiry into an alleged massacre of Iraqi civilians by U.S. Marines, sources say.

A fallout is obvious, considering people won't--and shouldn't--like the fact that the military covered up the Haditha incident. Our soldiers killing women and children in anger and then forcing other soldiers to photograph the massacre? That's completely unacceptable, and they know it.

The U.S. military had previously refused to believe villagers who accused the Marines of murdering unarmed civilians, even when presented with credible evidence assembled by Time magazine for an article in March.

"They were incredibly hostile," said Time's Aparisim Ghosh. "They accused us of buying into enemy propaganda, and they stuck to their original story, which is that these people were all killed by the IED [improvised explosive device]."

But that story has fallen apart in the wake of an investigation that sources said is likely to result in murder charges against some Marines and dereliction of duty counts against others.

Yeah, things aren't looking so peachy for the military right now. I wonder why...pfft.

And by the way, Michelle Malkin, you are clueless. Yeah, the investigations aren't yet complete and may not be for weeks, but to insist that the Marines responsible for the massacre shouldn't be "hung in a court of public opinion" is ridiculous. We may never know the complete truth behind this because it's already been admitted that there was a cover-up, and to think there won't be some other sort of cover-up once the real truth starts spilling out into the media is just naive and silly. The military wouldn't want the "family values" crowd to think that they allowed a cover-up of the killing of doe-eyed little children and their mommies in order to protect their reputation.
