Only he and the US Gov't/ Military establishment know at this point. They sure have went through a lot of time and resources if the guy was only a elite white hat hacker that wanted the truth.
If the ambitions, to go after him are more to prove a point or make him an example, then that is an entire different conversation. A long lasted 10 year legal war shows he knows something people higher up in the U,S, military chain of command don't want the people below knowing about.
