The ACLU filed a suit in June on behalf of an aide to Ron Paul who was detained by TSA officials for carrying $4,700 in cash on a flight. Steven Bierfeldt, the treasurer for Paul's Campaign for Liberty organization, had collected the money from T-shirt and ticket sales at an event. "Most Americans would be surprised to learn that TSA considers simply carrying cash to be a basis for detention and questioning," Bierfeldt said.
