And Now They Admit Sarah Palin Was A Mistake

Embarrassing revelations about her costly campaign wardrobe and bloopers about the vice president's job description are raising fresh fears that Sarah Palin is dragging down the Republican ticket.

New polls showed Wednesday that seven weeks after John McCain plucked the Alaska governor from political obscurity to be his running mate in the November 4 elections, Palin is seen as an increasing liability for Republicans.

The Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found that Americans are less and less convinced she is worthy to serve as the country's number-two leader.

"Her numbers have plummeted in our poll ... what's more 55 percent think she's unqualified to serve as president if the need arises, which is a troublesome number given McCain's age," said NBC political director Chuck Todd.

The poll also puts the 72-year-old McCain 10 points behind his Democratic rival Barack Obama, and says that 47 percent of those surveyed viewed Palin negatively.

It confirmed the findings of an ABC/Washington Post poll released earlier this month which found that six in 10 voters saw Palin, 44, as lacking the experience to be an effective president.

"A third are now less likely to vote for McCain because of her," the Post added.

Look, we've already established that Palin was 1.) not really McCain's first choice, 2.) probably not his choice at all, 3.) and was most likely handpicked by the White House as some sort of "Republican Hillary Clinton" to bring in women voters (which worked wonders, as you can see). I'm sure someone sat John down and told him that this year would become one of those "Things You Never Thought You'd See In Your Lifetime" historical moments because of Obama and that little "first non-Caucasian President" thing, and they probably said that if he wanted his own chance at a "moment in history," then all signs were pointing to a female Vice President. After all, lots of Dems were disappointed when Hillary didn't make it (as either President or VP choice). What Republican wouldn't fall in love with Palin?

And you see how well that has worked out.

Honestly, I knew the instance that she made her speech that the GOP had shot itself in the collective foot. Sure she's a pretty face in something that ISN'T ANOTHER HORRIBLE PANTSUIT (are you listening, Hillary?), but she's also very ignorant. So blatantly stupid that it pains you to watch. Almost. I realize that John might have taken offense to having a VP who's more intelligent-sounding than him -- and a WOMAN, at that. They probably stuck him with her just to ease his ego. However, this was their downfall. Most Republicans want someone who sounds smart on TV, even if behind closed doors, they have no idea what a Vice President is supposed to do.

And yes, there are a lot of rednecks out there who vote Republican and would vote for her just because she loves Jesus, too, but let's not kid ourselves, people. There's just as many who won't show up to vote just because she's a woman.

McCain would have been better off with anyone else -- including Lieberman. Hey, at least having Lieberman on the ticket would have scared off closet bigots and KKK-card carrying members.
