Bush Is Politicizing Terrorism

Bush playing politics with terror.

Even life-long Republicans are now disgusted and irritated at the Bush White House for going along with Karl Rove's plan to politicize the "war on terror".

By now, I have grown to expect this from the Bush Administration. They are more about "smoke and mirrors" than substance, and they tend to rely of scaring people using terror or cheap political press junkettes to gain political points. This is truly the only card they have to play, and I think that by them playing it, they will further alienate voters loyal to the party who are quite down at the lack of action and fruitful policies by their party of absolute power.

I liken this quote to the current state of the GOP:

"Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely.."

An observation that a person's sense of morality lessens as his or her power increases. The statement was made by Lord Acton, a British historian of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

And discontentent from the GOP faithful grows:

"I do have a bit of mistrust," said Mr. McBride, who said that he twice voted for Mr. Bush but that he is now disappointed -- a sentiment he said is shared by many in his Bible study group. "The whole thing about W.M.D. and that Iraq is somehow tied to 9/11, I just don't believe it."

"I have been a Republican all my life, but we have just gotten to the point where we may need a change," said Shannon Abote, an Arvada resident who was stopping at Starbucks for a coffee on Monday morning.

Still, even strong Bush supporters said they doubted the presidential drumbeat on terrorism would alter the political landscape here. "I think people already have their minds made up," said Michael Mason, an engineer and Golden native. "The whole thing could end tomorrow, and they would still hate his guts. The damage has been done."

Remember who was running the country when 9/11 happened and who let their guard down?

The Republicans have had absolute power now since 2000, and they have succeeded at letting us all down.
