Preview of what the national elections will be like? More wonderful "mistakes". Hey, at least there was an apology this time.
A Montgomery County Council committee plans to hold a special meeting on Monday to demand answers from county election officials about what led to massive problems in the balloting process for yesterday's primary.
Montgomery County Council President George L. Leventhal (D-At Large) said the failure was systemic, not an individual lapse. "I have completely lost confidence in the Montgomery County Board of Elections," he said. "I think what happened [Tuesday] is worse than Clarksburg in terms of public confidence in our government."
"We just absolutely blew it," said Samuel L. Statland, one of three voting members of the elections board. "We apologize to all the candidates, the voters -- especially the voters -- for all the inconvenience to everybody."
