The Third Party Is Now The McCain-Lieberman Party?

David Brooks: 'McCain-Lieberman Party' still emerging

Yeah, according to New York Times columnist David Brooks, the "McCain-Lieberman Party" is one of the three major parties in America, so if moderates ever wanted to attach a label to themselves (other than "moderates," of course), then I'm sure they'll be pleased with this label.

From the (subscription-only) article:

"The Democratic Party was represented by its rising force -- Ned Lamont on a victory platform with the net roots exulting before him and Al Sharpton smiling just behind," Brooks opines in Thursday's edition of The Times. "The Republican Party was represented by its collapsing old guard -- scandal-tainted Tom DeLay trying to get his name removed from the November ballot."

"And the McCain-Lieberman Party was represented by Joe Lieberman himself, giving a concession speech that explained why polarized primary voters shouldn't be allowed to define the choices in American politics," Brooks continues.

Well, there you go. Never vote for another Democrat or Republican again! Why should you when we've got the McCain-Lieberman Party? When it's about issues important to you, it's the party that says it's firmly on the middle of the fence, but it's obvious that it keeps teetering to both sides.
