Marines Start Involuntarily Re-call

Marines Start Involuntarily Re-call

The U.S. Marine Corps said Tuesday it has been authorized to recall thousands of Marines to active duty, primarily because of a shortage of volunteers for duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Up to 2,500 Marines will be brought back at any one time, but there is no cap on the total number of Marines who may be forced back into service in the coming years as the military battles the war on terror. The call-ups will begin in the next several months.

This is the first time the Marines have had to use the involuntary recall since the early days of the Iraq combat. The Army has ordered back about 14,000 soldiers since the start of the war.

I remember something to the fact of the American military being part of a "all volunteer" force. Bush and the military brass have decided to remove the volunteer part and recall at least 2,500 marines with no upper ceiling or hard cap.

Things must be going really well recruiting-wise and with morale when they are pulling this kind of military posturing. Really, if I were a soldier, I wouldn't want to be thrown again into the Hell George Bush has created on the ground in Iraq.

I really couldn't fathom the idea of us seeing "Iraq 2.0" in Iran this time next year.

Serving for something you believe in and strong, firm leadership is one thing. Serving to pad Halliburton's pockets and continue an already deadly and incompetent war plan is a total different matter altogether.

I wouldn't want to go back to that hell-hole either.
