Dems Are Telling Lieberman He's On His Own If He Loses

Support unlikely from fellow Senate Democrats, should Lieberman lose

Yeah, once again, things aren't looking rosy for old Joe. Should he lose the Connecticut primary today, he won't get support from the DNC for an Independent run.

As I've mentioned before, it appears that those politicians who have firmly planted their lips on George Bush's behind in the past have received the kiss of death for doing so, and now, their campaigns for re-election aren't going as expected. Take this, for instance:

Late last week, Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) surprised election followers by publicly advising Lieberman to drop his intent to run as an independent if he is defeated in the primary by a significant margin. Speaking on NPR, Lautenberg noted that, in the event of a big loss, Lieberman will have to "take a look at what reality is" adding that, in the event of a ten-point-or-greater defeat, Lieberman should drop his bid as an independent candidate.

What probably hurts the most for Joe is that the people I'm sure he considered his good friends -- like Hillary Clinton, for example -- seem to be turning on him now that he's lost his power to charm the Democratic voters.

It also seems he's lost his marbles, too: Lieberman: Site nailed by denial of service, demands AG investigate opponent

What? Ned Lamont's got some 1337 h4x0r 5ki11z ("elite hacking skills" for those who don't read "techgeek-speak")?

No, not quite...Lieberman is just technologically-impaired. It turns out that someone in his staff purchased cheap hosting -- shock shock, horror horror! -- and his official site exceeded its bandwidth.

So after this bit of drama, what's next for old Joe? Will he suffer a humiliating defeat tonight? Sometime tonight or early tomorrow morning, we'll know the answer. (Go Ned!)

[Update:] NBC Nightly News is talking about Lieberman being on the brink of loss, so perhaps they know something...although I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that there are no exit polls being reported this years (what the hell?)

Also, not so oddly enough, parts of Connecticut were having problems at polling places. The machines were "locked out".
