Daily Show: Iraqi Violence Misplaced Appreciation For U.S.

Daily Show: Iraqi violence misplaced appreciation for U.S.

A very funny bit from Jon Stewart on the Daily Show mocking recent Bush remarks about Iraq and the recent daily grind of violence on the ground in Iraq.

Last night, The Daily Show investigated why the reality in Iraq has fallen far short of the Bush administration's expectations. The president has begun to question the lack of gratitude from the Iraqi population. The New York Times reports that President Bush "expressed frustration that Iraqis had not come to appreciate the sacrifices that United States had made in Iraq."

The Daily Show's Baghdad Bureau Chief, Aasif Mandvi, joined Stewart to examine the gap between the president's expectations and the behavior of the Iraqi people. Mandvi explains that the violence in Iraq is simply misplaced appreciation for their liberation and continued security. Mandvi says that "as three years have gone by it has become harder and harder to find the right way to say 'thank you.'"
