Voters have had enough of the party of absolute power which is known by its alias, the GOP. Borrowing a quote from Lord Acton:
"Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely."
An observation that a person's sense of morality lessens as his or her power increases. The statement was made by Lord Acton, a British historian of the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth centuries.
This quote hits us hard right where we hurt, given our current situation.
"Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November. With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule."
In the generic congressional ballot, Democrats are favored 51% to 40%.
Meanwhile, the poll finds President Bush's approval rating unchanged at 36%.
It's just about time for a landslide similar to the upheaval of Democratic control of Congress on 1994. I can smell it in the air...it's just like the winds before a summer rainstorm. You don't see the torrential rain and change yet, but you know deep down inside that it's coming.
