The Morning Quickie.

Morning, all! How was your holiday?

Army cuts 1,000 for personality disorders; they're trying to blame anti-social personality disorder for the jackass who recently got his rocks off inside an Iraqi woman and then killed her and her family...and guess what? According to the Army, personality disorders are not mental illnesses. Who was having sex under the bleachers instead of reporting to their psychology class?

Secret Service Reveals More Abramoff Visits; and here's how things work in DC: Abramoff pays the White House a visit, one of his buddies gets hired for something that's pretty much a non-job, and then the White House denies his existence. For someone they deny knowing, Jack sure gets around there a lot, don't you think?

Sen. Bayh Seeks Edge in Democratic Field; now here's a guy whom both Repubs and Dems can agree on, as they do here in the very red-state Indiana. You may think he's just another "evil Democrat," but he's fiscally conservative and a social liberal which basically means he's all for balancing the budget while making sure that those who really need help still get that help. He helped build a surplus here in Indiana while he was governor (which the late Gov. O'Bannon pissed away), and he can do the same for the country.

Election Trumps Budget Work; well, it's obvious that a lot of corrupted congressmen would rather focus on keeping their cushy jobs after this November than focus on the damn budget which can apparently wait forever, it seems.

DeLay Suggests He Might Not Retire; Former U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay suggested Friday that he may not be ready for retirement just yet, a day after a federal judge ruled that his name must remain on the November ballot even though he resigned from Congress. Yeah, I had a bad feeling that would happen.

Biden Explains Indian-American Comment; he makes some off-handed comment about how "you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent," and now his office is doing damage control, claiming he strongly supports Indian-Americans. Really, this needs no other explanation other than the fact that Biden has no class, and he's an idiot if he thought that making such a statement on C-SPAN would save his ass because no one would be watching it.

Lieberman to Opponent: 'I'm Not Bush'; he's trying to "distance" himself from Ned Lamont by insisting that he hasn't strayed from his Dem roots, but he's fooling no one.

Bush says report CIA bin Laden unit closed is 'incorrect'; does anyone honestly believe that he's still searching for the real killer--oops, that's OJ. Still, a liar is a liar is...well, you know.

Man indicted in phone jamming case will argue Administration approved election scheme; The fourth man indicted in a New Hampshire phone-jamming scheme -- in which Republican operatives jammed the phone lines of Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts in a 2002 Senate race -- will argue at trial that the Bush Administration and the national Republican Party gave their approval to the plan, according to a motion filed by his attorney Thursday. Here's the PDF of the file.

Sources say no serious plot for NYC, just hate chatter; apparently the discussions were held on an open Jihadi website, and while the "terrorists" were, indeed, extremists, they weren't professionals--meaning, they weren't capable of carrying out their "plot".
