Michael Schiavo Hits the Campaign Trail
I'm sure you haven't forgotten Terri Schiavo or her unfortunate husband, Michael--both pawns of a massive political move by Republicans throughout the nation. Well, Michael has a set up a foundation named TerriPAC which works to "raise and spend funds to educate voters on where their elected officials stood when they had a choice between individual freedom and personal privacy and overreaching government action." They're also backing several Democrats' runs for office.
Good for Michael. Honestly, I am still disturbed by the notion that the President would fly through the darkest hours of the night down to Florida to sign something deemed unconstitutional just to "save" the life of a woman who wasn't really even alive and unable to vote for him, but he'd allow poor people, with nothing else to their name except their property and their memories, to drown because they were "too stupid to get out of there," forgetting that those people will still be able to vote in upcoming elections. If they're alive, that is. Maybe he was counting on them to die, who knows?
