The Afternoon Quickie.
More news for you to chew on.
Update on the NSA wiretap/USA Today issue: Role of Verizon and BellSouth in wiretaps cannot be confirmed; so BellSouth and Verizon may actually be "clean" of the NSA scandal. Maybe...but who really believes they denied the NSA?
US could lose in Iraq due to negative media coverage, says Colonel Jeffrey Snow; how do they expect people to fall in line with that "loose lips sink ships" crap? This isn't WWII. That was a different, more meaningful cause that affected everyone...the whole Bush/Middle East ordeal is more of a holy war than anything. "My religion is better than your religion" propaganda.
Breaking news from CNN: Israeli TV: Doctor has treated kidnapped soldier; Israeli television station IBA has reported that a doctor has seen kidnapped 19-year-old army Cpl. Gilad Shalit and treated his injuries.
NYC Looks at Raising Smoking Age to 21; wow, you can die for your country at 18, and you are officially an adult at 18, but no beer or cigarettes for you until you're 21! What the hell? Can someone please tell me if "21" is some magical damn age where everyone is suddenly capable of maturity? Because I just don't see it.
Video of Brad Friedman from The Brad Blog talking about electronic voting machines (like Diebold) on Lou Dobb's show (CNN).
