The Morning Quickie Edition.
Federal Judge Dismisses Lawsuit by Man Held in Terror Program; the man was taken against his will, beaten, abused, and then his civil rights shut down by a judge unwilling to hold the Bush administration accountable for this terrible mistake. Three cheers for freedom? (Or lack thereof.)
BellSouth Wants Story Retractions; billions in lawsuits must not be so good for the company's bottom line. Maybe they should have thought twice about giving away customers' private call information to the NSA.
Specter to Feingold: "Good Riddance"; Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) again bows down to the extreme wackos of the Republican party. Congress will again debate a constitutional amendment which would prohibit states from recognizing same-sex marriages...which has no chance of passing and is nothing more than a cheap GOP publicity stunt.
Sex Abuse Settlement Overruled; still no justice and no end in sight for Roman Catholic church priest abuse victims.
Is the NSA eavesdropping program that President Bush confirmed the entire program? "I'm not at liberty to talk about that in open session," Hayden said. Nothing more came out of the Q&A sessions other than Republicans kissing Hayden's ass, and Democrats getting nothing answered with the above statement. Waste of time?
Senate Votes English as "National Language"; ignorance and lack of understanding on the "hot button" immigration issue triumph again in Congress.
