The Evening Quickie.
The Iranian military rejected a statement made by Mohammad Ebrahim Dehghani the other day about Israel being Iran's first target in response to a potential attack from the US; and Israel still isn't breathing easy? Gee, why not?
DC Architect refuses to sell to developers who show their appreciation by digging and building around him; you may think he's old and stubborn, but I admire him for sticking to his guns instead of becoming a sellout.
The mayor and two Town Council members get ousted by voters after supporting the building of a day-labor center for immigrant workers; this is the "war on terror" all over again...support immigrants' rights, and suddenly, you are labeled "un-American" and "un-patriotic".
The DC Council voted unanimously to abolish "rent ceilings" and to overhaul rent control; it's nice to know that someone in Washington is still trying to help seniors and the disabled...too bad this can't be the whole country.
A Virginia principal issues an apology after linking ethnicity to stealing and cheating by students; here's a first--she wasn't talking about African-American students...she was talking about Asian students.
Tom Coburn has spent the past week trying to remove pet-project "earmarks," going after senators from either party who have added another money request to the emergency spending bill, but he's having a difficult time winning; who knew that there would be one Republican in Washington who hates pork?
UNICEF releases a report about that old saying, "Breast is best," because it's apparently the cure-all for malnutrition in underweight children in third world nations.
Nagin unveils a new evacuation plan for New Orleans in the event of another weather-related emergency; Nagin just wants you to get the hell out of the city the next time, and that might not be a bad idea since we've seen how prepared Homeland Security is when actually defending the homeland.
The Washington Post jumps on the bandwagon, finally, with their own post about Bush singing the national anthem in Spanish to gain votes and funds back in 2000; now if only mainstream media would acknowledge Stephen Colbert's huge set of balls.
A Kentuckian businessman will plead guilty to giving a Louisianan representative hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to promote his high-tech business ventures in Africa; what they say about Louisianan politicians is true, it seems...damn corrupted Democrats.
A government study by the US Climate Change Science Program has concluded that there is no statistically significant conflict between measures of global warming on the earth's surface and in the atmosphere; in other words: global warming IS real. Eat that, Washington.
And from the Department of Everyone Knew This Would Happen, the $100 rebate idea by the GOP has flopped, due to voter complaint; because no one was buying that whole "Washington gets it" line. Sorry, Charlie.
