Clark says that Bush is leading us on the "path to nowhere" because of his misguided moves. (Well, the White House can't deny that...after all, Condi said so herself just the other day that the U.S. has made tons of errors in this war.)
The retired Army general and NATO military commander argued in the Democrats' weekly radio address that the United States needs a new plan to win the war on terror after failing to find Sept. 11 terror mastermind Osama bin Laden, fighting an unnecessary war in Iraq and stumbling in halting weapons proliferation in North Korea and Iran.
The administration "has shown tragic incompetence in everything from nation building in Iraq to disaster relief in Louisiana," he said. "Let's face it: We're not going to win the war on terror unless we start making more friends and fewer enemies in the world, and we're not going to be able to protect the American people without a new strategy."
He's right. Remember the old saying: you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
If you want to win a war, you have to make people want to come to your side because they believe in your cause. Forcing them to take your side by chanting, "You're for us or against us," will not work. Sorry, but the Rambo "I'll do it on my own" crap doesn't work either in today's world. We can't survive by being isolationistic. That's not how progress works. Everyone has to work together.
OK, so that may make me sound like some "neo-hippy," but some of that "hippy crap" holds truths.
