Republican Senate Gas Plan "Tanking" With Conservatives And Liberals.

Source: The Raw Story

The New York Times is set to run a huge front-page splash story on the Republican Senate plan to send $100 rebates to millions of taxpayers to help offset the escalating cost of gasoline.

The thing is, this plan is equally ticking off liberal and conservative voters of both parties.

A Republican Senate plan to send $100 rebates to millions of taxpayers to help offset the escalating cost of gasoline appears to be 'tanking' with conservative and liberal voters, according to a story set for the front page of Monday's New York Times, RAW STORY has found.

"Congressional offices report that some constituents quickly called and e-mailed to make their displeasure known, portraying the idea as pandering and insufficient," reports the Times.

A spokesman for Texas Senator John Cornyn, Don Stewart tells the Times, "The conservatives think it is socialist bunk, and the liberals think it is conservative trickery."

The plan, proposed by Republicans last Thursday, also contains a provision calling for oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

I guess in their love for lobbyist dollars, Congress again shows why they are so out of touch and really don't care to help "common Joe" poor and middle class Americans struggling with high gas prices.

Maybe the voters will use their power and send the message come this November by giving pink slips to the GOP-lead Congress, those who care more about greed and self-wealth and less about the constituents.

Come November 3rd, 2006, we are going to party like it's 1994.

It's just about time for that "political landslide" of voter anger and revolt everyone is talking about. Even polling shares the same sentiments.

Honestly, the only thing they care about is getting oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This would be another golden egg for the oil industry and another flagrant crime on the environment by this Congress and White House in love with all things oil.

Again, our politicians are more concerned with helping the rich (big oil companies), and helping the rest of us is only a brief afterthought.

How sad in the scope of things, really.
