The Mid-Day Lunch Rush.

(Time to play catch-up as Blogger was being evil today and denying access most of the morning; quite weird that they would have issues for being a Google-owned and run company?)

*Dubai firm cleared to buy military supplier; time for "Ports Gate 2" or also known as: "we didn't get all the negative press and backlash the first time around, and Operation Extreme Redundancy is still a go in the White House."

*Our Führer--I mean--president wants the National Anthem sung in English; we want him to actually learn proper English, himself, if that's the case.

*FBI's interviews of protesters before and during the 2004 political conventions were carried out for "legitimate law enforcement purposes" and not to prevent people from demonstrating; sure, and the Patriot Act is used for terrorist cases only, right?

*Alleged biased beating upsets calm in Texas town; two white teens beating up a minority teenager? Now I would have never seen that coming from the land of Southern hospitality.

*No. 2 Abu Ghraib interrogation officer charged; still amazingly, no generals or other top military brass charged or kicked out of the military for this yet?

*Single-faith prison program questioned; sorry, plans rule out secular counseling or programs that offer inmates guidance in a variety of faiths...this is fundie-controlled America after all. (Unfortunately.)

*ABC's prime-time drama "Commander in Chief," starring Geena Davis as the president, ignited an explosion of anger in Prince George's County yesterday; people just don't like "real" reality television on their television sets, I guess.

*In an Iraqi town, trainees are also suspects; "There's two kinds of Iraqis here: the ones who help us and the ones who shoot us, and there's an awful lot of 'em doing both"...sounds like a catch-22 to me.

*Report sets stage for action on Iran; you can be a winner at the game of World War III!

*Ex-head of FDA faces criminal inquiry; Dr. Lester M. Crawford, the former commissioner of food and drugs, is to receive the "Presidential Medal of Freedom" for his faithful service to PNAC, big businesses, and the Bush crime family because after all, corruption is rewarded and encouraged on every level.

*A long-running effort by the Bush administration to send home many of the terrorist suspects held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has been stymied in part because of concern among United States officials that the prisoners may not be treated humanely by their own governments, but we continue to ignore the Geneva convention and all international laws in the war on terror war against people who aren't white. (Sorry if that offends, but I just call their fake war as I see it.)
