The Japanese have done it again. They stepped up to the plate and hit a home-run in the field of science.
That home-run? A vaccine for chickens against the H5N1 strain of bird flu.
Bird flu vaccine for chickens developed
TSUKUBA, Japan, March 22 (UPI)--Japanese researchers say they have developed a new type of vaccine to protect chickens against the H5N1 strain of bird flu.
Researchers led by scientists at Hokkaido University gave their report Tuesday at a convention organized in the city of Tsukuba by the Japan Veterinary Medical Association and the Japanese Society of Veterinary Science.
The report suggested that the newly developed vaccine took effect much more quickly than conventional products, as it increased antibodies inside the chicken within one week after its injection, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported Wednesday.
