Hong Kong Police Leak Info On Complaints.

Source: People.com

A database packed with detailed information on some 20,000 people who have complained about the police since 1996 in Hong Kong has been LEAKED on the Internet.

We get the message, loud and clear. Do not speak up or you will get beat down.
Hong Kong Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) officially apologized on Saturday to the public for the leak of information on 20,000 people who complained about police over the past decade, saying the incident was a "terrible mistake."

After a three-hour closed door emergency meeting on Saturday morning, the IPCC decided to launch a four-member special team headed by the council chairman Ronny Wong to investigate the incident while immediate remedy measures were taken to bring the damage to its lowest level.

"The IPCC is greatly concerned over the leak of the personal data on the Internet," Wong told reporters after the council's emergency meeting, "thus we offered a sincere and unreserved apology to the public and to those were affected."

The Hong Kong police have a zeal for all things "human rights" like:
In 2002, Amnesty International cited the use of force in an incident at Chater Garden where more than 350 police and immigrations officers stormed a group of 200 protesters.

On 12 August 2002, Falun Gong protestors protested peacefully outside the Liaison Office of Central People's Government in HKSAR were forcibly removed from the street by Hong Kong Police with controversal, and as perceived , violent tactics.

Again, I'm amazed. Another region of the world assimilates American culture. Where have I seen the same zeal for "human rights" before?
