80% think Iraq civil war in imminent.

Source: Washington Post

A majority of Americans now believe the fighting in Iraq between rival religious factions will lead to a eventual civil war.
An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that fighting between Sunni and Shiite Muslims in Iraq will lead to civil war, and half say the United States should begin withdrawing its forces from that violence-torn country, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The survey found that 80 percent believe that recent sectarian violence makes civil war in Iraq likely, and more than a third say such a conflict is "very likely" to occur. These expectations extend beyond party lines: More than seven in 10 Republicans and eight in 10 Democrats and political independents say they believe such a conflict is coming.

Mark it up as a failure, and move on, folks.

There is a good reason why Daddy Bush left Saddam in power. He didn't want to create a power vacuum that would lead to a civil war and further unrest in the region or another country sweeping in and taking the spoils after we left (Iran, China, Russia...anybody?).

It looks like we will see two out of those three in the coming weeks. It's nice to know that Dad didn't have his head in the clouds like the son does.

This would have to be the 80% not watching Fox News one would assume.
